In a big pot on medium heat, warm up the oil. Toss in the onion and garlic, and cook for about 3-4 minutes until they soften.

Throw in the bell pepper and sweet potato, then stir around for about 5 minutes.

Mix in the black beans, tomatoes, broth, and spices. Turn the heat up and let it start to bubble.

Lower the heat and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring every now and then until the sweet potato softens.
