Turn your oven on to 350°F (175°C). Coat an 8-inch square pan with nonstick spray.

Combine the sugar (1/2 cup) and cocoa (1/4 cup) in a bowl. Set it aside for later.

Blend all dry ingredients together. In another bowl, mix wet ones. Merge the two gently, then toss in the chocolate chips.

Put the batter in the pan, sprinkle over the cocoa-sugar combo, and carefully pour boiling water on top. Don’t mix!

Bake for 22-24 mins until the top cracks and the sauce starts bubbling. Rest for 10 mins and enjoy warm.
