Creamy Chicken Mushroom Dish (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Chicken

01 - A couple of chicken breasts, chopped into small 1-inch bits
02 - Pinch of salt and black pepper, adjusted to your preference
03 - 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
04 - All-purpose flour for lightly coating the chicken

→ Sauce Base

05 - 1/2 an onion, finely diced
06 - Three tablespoons of olive oil, split up
07 - 1 tablespoon of butter
08 - 8 oz of sliced cremini mushrooms (also called baby bellas)
09 - Three cloves of garlic, minced up
10 - 1-2 spoonfuls of Dijon mustard, adjusted based on taste
11 - 1-2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, to your liking
12 - 2/3 cup chicken broth for the base
13 - 1/2 cup sour cream that’s nice and full-fat

# Instructions:

01 - Slice the chicken into pieces about an inch wide, sprinkle with garlic powder, and season with pepper and salt. Dust the chicken with flour and gently shake off any leftover flour.
02 - Warm up a large skillet with 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Cook half the chicken pieces until golden on both sides–takes roughly 3 minutes per side. Move the cooked chicken onto a plate.
03 - In the same skillet, toss in the remaining oil and butter. Once melted, add mushrooms and onions. Let them cook for 6-8 minutes so they become golden, and any excess liquid vanishes.
04 - Pour in the Worcestershire and Dijon, followed by the minced garlic. Stir everything around for about a minute.
05 - Add the chicken broth while scraping up any browned bits from the skillet. Toss the chicken back in and let it simmer for a couple of minutes.
06 - Take it off the burner and mix in sour cream until smooth. Adjust salt and pepper if needed.
07 - Dish it up right away with your choice of noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.

# Notes:

01 - Let the chicken, onions, and mushrooms get a nice golden color for extra flavor.
02 - Want it even richer? Stir in a bit more butter with the sour cream at the end.
03 - Want to add veggies? A handful of spinach or peas can brighten things up.
04 - For a crunchy twist, sprinkle fried shallots on top before serving.
