Line a 9×9 pan with parchment or foil, letting it hang over the edges like a sling. Spritz it with non-stick spray on both sides.

Melt butter in a wide pot on medium heat. Keep cooking till it foams up, and watch for brown, toasty bits forming at the base. Once you see them, take it off the heat.

Stir 8 cups of marshmallows and a pinch of salt into the hot butter till it’s smooth and melted. Mix in the vanilla next.

Dump the melted marshmallow mixture over your Rice Krispies in a big mixing bowl. Stir it all up. Add those other 2 cups of marshmallows while it’s still warm for some chewy bits.

Spread half the cereal mix into the pan and press gently. Evenly layer dulce de leche on top, then finish with the rest of the cereal mix. Leave it to cool at room temp.
