Dulce Brown Rice Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/4 teaspoon vanilla flavor
02 - 6 cups cinnamon sugar Rice Krispies cereal
03 - 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, fine grain
04 - 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
05 - 1/2 can thick dulce de leche
06 - 10 cups small marshmallows (8 melted, 2 left whole)

# Instructions:

01 - Line a 9×9 pan with parchment or foil, letting it hang over the edges like a sling. Spritz it with non-stick spray on both sides.
02 - Melt butter in a wide pot on medium heat. Keep cooking till it foams up, and watch for brown, toasty bits forming at the base. Once you see them, take it off the heat.
03 - Stir 8 cups of marshmallows and a pinch of salt into the hot butter till it’s smooth and melted. Mix in the vanilla next.
04 - Dump the melted marshmallow mixture over your Rice Krispies in a big mixing bowl. Stir it all up. Add those other 2 cups of marshmallows while it’s still warm for some chewy bits.
05 - Spread half the cereal mix into the pan and press gently. Evenly layer dulce de leche on top, then finish with the rest of the cereal mix. Leave it to cool at room temp.

# Notes:

01 - No cinnamon-sugar Rice Krispies? Use plain ones, and mix 1/4–1/3 cup of cinnamon sugar.
02 - Coat your spoon with butter first. It’ll stop things from sticking when you press the layers down.
