Cherry Pie Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 3 cups plain flour
02 - 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
03 - 4 eggs, room temp
04 - 1 teaspoon salt
05 - 1/4 teaspoon almond essence
06 - 1 cup softened butter
07 - 2 cups white sugar

→ Filling

08 - Two 21-ounce cans of cherry filling for pies

→ Glaze

09 - 2–3 tablespoons of milk (2%)
10 - 1 cup powdered sugar
11 - 1/2 teaspoon almond essence
12 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F. Beat the butter, sugar, and salt until it’s creamy and fluffy—takes about 5-7 minutes. Add in eggs one at a time, then toss in the extracts. Slowly stir in the flour at the end.
02 - Push about 3 cups of the dough into a lightly greased 15x10x1-inch pan. Spread the cherry filling over it. Drop teaspoon-sized bits of the leftover dough over the filling.
03 - Pop it in the oven for 35–40 minutes until it’s got a nice golden top. Let it cool fully on a rack while still in the pan.
04 - Blend together the powdered sugar, extracts, and just enough milk to get the glaze texture you like. Drizzle it on top once the bars are totally cool.

# Notes:

01 - Great for taking to parties or events
02 - Simple enough for beginners too!
