Give your slow cooker a quick spray with some non-stick spray to prevent food from sticking.

If you've got a few extra minutes, brown the beef chunks in a pan first for extra flavor. It’s not required though.

Put the meat onto one side of the crockpot. Place the potatoes on the other side, drizzle a bit of oil over them, and sprinkle on whatever seasonings you prefer.

Spread out the minced garlic evenly across the meat and potatoes. Place the butter slices on top of everything.

Pop the lid on and cook on the high setting for 4–5 hours, making sure the meat hits at least 145°F when done.
