Tender Stovetop Chicken (Print Version)

An easy way to make juicy and flavorful chicken breasts on the stovetop with everyday spices and good timing.

# Ingredients:

01 - 4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts (weighing 1 pound total).
02 - 3 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil, split up.
03 - Non-stick cooking spray.
04 - Pepper and salt for seasoning.
05 - 1/2 teaspoon bottled garlic powder.
06 - 1/2 teaspoon powdered onion.
07 - 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves.
08 - 1/2 teaspoon sweet or smoked paprika.
09 - Two tablespoons of unsalted butter, used separately.

# Steps:

01 - In a wide skillet, heat 1 and a half tablespoons of your oil over a medium-high burner.
02 - Dry the chicken, rub oil all over it. Mix your spices and coat both sides of each piece evenly.
03 - Put two chicken breasts into the skillet. Let them cook untouched for about 5-7 minutes. Flip, then toss in one tablespoon of butter. Leave for another 7 or so minutes, making sure they hit 165°F inside.
04 - Take out the first two pieces and cover them up to keep warm. Do the exact steps again with the last pieces and the rest of the butter.
05 - Set the chicken aside for a 5-minute breather before slicing it up and serving.

# Helpful Notes:

01 - Chicken pieces shouldn’t be thicker than an inch, or they won’t cook evenly.
02 - Go for vegetable oil—it doesn’t burn as easily.
03 - Let the chicken stay put while searing to get that perfect crust.
