Comforting Family Meal (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Beef Layer

01 - 1 cup yellow onions, finely chopped
02 - 1 pound of ground beef (or swap it for turkey)
03 - 12-ounce can of corn (don't drain the liquid)
04 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
05 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
06 - 0.87-ounce packet of beef gravy seasoning
07 - 1/2 tablespoon powdered onion
08 - 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
09 - 1/2 cup water

→ Potato Layer

10 - 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
11 - 4 ounces of instant potato mix
12 - 1/2 cup milk
13 - 1 1/2 cups water

→ Topping Extras

14 - 2 cups of shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese blend
15 - 28 ounces of frozen tater tots

# Instructions:

01 - Turn on your oven to 425°F. Heat up some butter or margarine in a big frying pan over medium-high heat.
02 - Toss the ground beef into the pan, breaking it apart as you go. When it starts to brown, mix in the chopped onions. Keep stirring until the beef cooks through and the onions are soft.
03 - Add the entire can of corn with its liquid to the beef. Pour in water and mix in the gravy packet, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir everything together till blended.
04 - Pour the beef mix into a greased 9×13-inch casserole dish, making sure it's even.
05 - Boil 1 1/2 cups water with 2 tablespoons of butter in a small pot. Take it off the heat, stir in the potato mix along with the milk, and let it sit a bit before giving it another stir till smooth.
06 - Spread the creamy mashed potatoes right on top of the beef layer in the dish.
07 - Place the tater tots one by one over the mashed potatoes to form an even layer.
08 - Put the dish into your preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes. The tater tots should be crispy and golden by then.
09 - Take the dish out, sprinkle the cheese mixture on top, and bake it again for about 4 to 6 minutes, just enough for the cheese to bubble and lightly toast.
10 - Let the dish cool down for a few minutes before digging in. Enjoy every bite!

# Notes:

01 - Switch to ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
02 - Throw in veggies like peas, carrots, or green beans if you want an added health boost.
03 - Prep everything ahead of time and keep it in the fridge. Add 5 extra minutes to your cooking time when ready to bake.
04 - Mix things up with cheeses like Monterey Jack, Colby Jack, or Pepper Jack for a different twist.
