A bold sandwich from New Orleans, stuffed with Italian meats, cheese, and a tangy olive spread. Great for parties or meals!

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 cup jarred roasted red peppers, diced small.
02 - 1/2 teaspoon crushed oregano.
03 - 2 tablespoons capers (don’t drain liquid).
04 - 3 minced garlic cloves.
05 - 1/4 cup good-quality olive oil.
06 - 2 tablespoons tangy red wine vinegar.
07 - 1/2 teaspoon crumbled basil (dried).
08 - 1 medium shallot, finely chopped.
09 - 1 cup vegetable giardiniera, chopped small.
10 - 1 cup fresh green olives, roughly chopped.
11 - 1 lb Italian meats: mortadella, ham, salami, thinly sliced.
12 - 1 round 10-inch loaf Italian bread.
13 - 1/2 lb provolone (use the sliced kind).

# Steps:

01 - Toss olives, giardiniera, roasted peppers, garlic, and shallot in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and vinegar, then shake in the oregano and basil. Stir to coat everything evenly.
02 - Cut the loaf open across the middle. Scoop out some of the soft inside to make room for the filling.
03 - Use a spoon to evenly layer your olive mixture on both bread halves.
04 - Lay down slices of ham, mortadella, salami, and provolone on the bottom half of the bread.
05 - Close it up, wrap it tightly, and squish it under a heavy pan for about an hour. Cut into 8 pieces before sharing.

# Helpful Notes:

01 - Serve as 4 big portions or slice into 8 smaller ones.
02 - Great for get-togethers and celebrations.
03 - Tastes even better after sitting a bit!
